Tour of Nyiragongo, Pygmies, K. Biega & Bonobo - Virunga & Kahuzi Biega

1. Day (SUN 12.02.2017): Kigali to Goma (D)
   Arrival at Kigali Airport. Receiving at Airport or pick up at hotel in Kigali. Drive for Goma along the beautiful swinging road with a beautiful view of the hills of Rwanda to arrive at the border (nearly 150 km). Drive to your hotel Linda with a beautiful view of Lake Kivu and stay overnight. Dinner at La Chalet.
   
   
2. Day (MON 13.02.2017): Goma – Nyiragongo (B,L,D)
   08:00 am - In the morning pick up from your hotel and drive to Virunga National Park, precisely in the southern sector at Kibati.  Arrive at the ranger post patrol, have the briefing by the chief ranger guide, then enjoy Nyiragongo volcano mountain hiking (5 hours from the base to the top) with snacks en-route.  Arrive up on the summit, visit the impressive Lava Lake in the largest crater. Lunch at the summit. Rest and explore and picture opportunities. Dinner and overnight up the summit in ICCN cabins.
   
   
3. Day (TUE 14.02.2017): Nyiragongo volcano – Goma (B,L,D)
   After an early visit to the Lava Lake again, take your breakfast and then descend the mountain all the way to the starting point (3 hours from the summit to the base).  Arrive at the ranger post patrol then drive back to Goma and drop off at your hotel. Lunch at Linda Hotel. Free and easy afternoon. You will need it to rest from the hike! Dinner at Ihusi Hotel.
   
   
4. Day (WED 15.02.2017): Goma – Lac Vert & Pygmies Village – Bukavu (B,L,D)
   After breakfast, pickup at 09:00 am from your hotel and drive to the magnificent Lac Vert. Take a small break here and enjoy the beautiful nature and scenery here. Then drive to a nearby Pygmy village.  Witness traditional pygmies dance. 13:30 Drive back to Linda Hotel. Have lunch. 15:30 Visit Goma Handicrafts market (if available a traditional market instead). 17:15 – Leave for Emmanuel Port to catch the boat for Bukavu. Spend the night in the boat on bunk beds.
   
   
5. Day (THU 16.02.2017): Kahuzi Biega - Gorilla trekking (B,L,D)
   
   06:30 am – Arrive at the port and drive to “Kahuzi Biega National Park” precisely 37 km West of Bukavu and 13 km from Bukavu Airport. Drive through the beautiful tea fields at Chivanga. Arrive at the National Park Headquarter where you will be briefed by the Park staff. Have a quick cup of coffee, enter into the park accompanied by Park rangers and enjoy Eastern Low land Gorillas tracking. After the tracking, drive to Lwiro where the Scientific Research Center is which was built in 1947 by the Belgians. Here, it might be possible to visit the Chimps’ sanctuary (would be great too), the museum, the library, the biodiversity room and snakes in cages. 13:00 Lunch at a restaurant in Lwiro. Evening – Retrieve back to Lwiro Guest House on sharing basis. Dinner and night stay at Guesthouse.
   
   
   
6. Day (FRI 17.02.2017): Bukavu – Goma (B)
   07:00 am – After early breakfast, check-out from the hotel for Ihusi Port. Catch the Ihusi Speedboat, leaving at 07:30 am to arrive at 10:15 am at Goma. Transfer to Kigali Airport to catch your evening flight out.
