Afternoon lunch at the lodge, followed by a visit to Skull Cave, a catacomb of the dead warrior's bones resting in special arrangement underground, and onto nearby villages in the final frontier of the world, on the edge of civilization and on the last edge of history. These people were the last uncontacted peoples in this century, some in true sense only 40 years ago. dinner and overnight at Lakunda Lodge.

Day 2: Trekking

After breakfast, embark on your intrepid journey into the highlands of Papua New Guinea, through jungles and waterfalls, mountains and rivers...stop at Karita village for a traditional lunch (very very healthy as well...These lands are among the most verdant, fertile, and fecund in the world, and are blessed with amazing and tasty vegetables to rival anything in any grocery store or farm worldwide...so much so that farming companies have tried to buy the land and export the vegetables!) After lunch enjoy a welcome by the community and watch a Huli Wigmen Tsing-tsing, set off past gardens of Eden and village life frozen in time, to arrive finally at your Karita Guesthouse. Tonight you will hear stories of Huli PNG past and present, about how the residents of the world's last untouched reserve of humanity came into the wider world and faced the change while keeping so much of their traditions burning strong still. This is the farthest you'll ever feel from home. Overnight and dinner of roast chicken and vegetables at Karita Guesthouse.

Day 3: Trekking

After a brisk and hearty breakfast, set off for Lumbira, farther into the valleys of the green highlands and up into the clouds themselves, while hundreds of species of birds spin around you in the trees and skies in a birdwatcher's paradise. (This is one of the top 3 birdwatching spots on earth, and home to the magically marked “Birds of Paradise”...) Ramble on until you reach Lumbira for late lunch, and then relax in the sublime scenery and witness the Huli Spirit Dance. Overnight and get a good night's sleep after dinner at your Lumbira Guesthouse.

Day 4: Trekking

Trek and trek on to Walumali today after breakfast, where you will reach at last the Tari Gap again and be scooped up by vehicle to go off to a lunch in town, to celebrate your hard walk and hard work. Witness the colorful and thriving market chaos of Tari, grab some souvenirs, and head out of the hurly burly up to Ambua, 45 minutes drive, to relax by a massive waterfall, the Makara Falls, and have a freshwater shower from the falling mists. Return with a short walk to Lakunda Lodge for a final course dinner and sendoff party and toast. Fall asleep high in the hills with the sounds of the forests and the light of the stars. Trek well done!

Day 5: Huli Bachelor Boys and Wig Growing School, Depart Tari

After an early breakfast, drive to visit the crazy and amazing wig-growing school where Huli masters train youth to groom and train their wigs into all sorts of shapes from mushrooms to blazing suns, all-important in Huli tradition for wooing and finding your date and mate! After this lesson and show, to cap off your PNG trek with more unforgettable spectacle and memories, transfer to the airport for your departure from Tari and PNG.
